Saturday, 29th

Sugar Army head out on the road once again, this time through out May supporting Gyroscope. This follows on from support slots with Interpol and Little Birdy. The group's debut extended player Where Do You Hide Your Toys is out now. Further details »

Thursday, 27th

Powderfinger, after packing out stadiums last year, will be giving fans intimate theatre shows for the first time in 8 years with the The Upstairs at the Downstairs Tour this June. Each performance will consist of two sets – one acoustic followed by a second rock set with intermission in between. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday April 11, with early bird tickets for members of the fan club. Further details »

Plastic Palace Alice is set to release its debut album The Great Depression on March 29 through Inertia Distribution. The Melbourne sextet launch the longer player through out May with a run of east coast dates. Further details »

Tuesday, 25th

Sydney's Pivot plays its first UK and European shows this April. The band recently signed to Warp Records, with its forthcoming second album due out on the label later in the year. Further details »

Even release its self-titled album in stores March 29 on Rubber Records. In other news the band has struck an American and European deal with Forte, and have been personally invited to play at the prestigious All Tomorrow’s Parties Festival in the UK in May 2008.

The Bumblebeez embark on a national tour this April in support of their album of late last year, Prince Umberto & The Sister Of Ill, out now on Modular Records. Further details »

Wednesday, 19th

Peabody is set to play two shows in Asia during early April. The band plays the Hà Nôi International Music Festival in Vietnam on Saturday April 5 at the American Club, Hà Nôi, Vietnam; and Hong Kong on Wednesday April 9 at the The Cavern, Lan Kwai Fong.

Splendour In The Grass returns for its 8th year this 2008, on the weekend of August 2 and 3 at Belongil Fields, Byron Bay. The first line-up announcement will be in late April, with tickets going on sale in May.

Tuesday, 18th

Matt McBeath, former member of The Rebel Astronauts, heads out on the road this March and April in support of his debut solo record The Morning Seems So Clear. Further details »

Guns Are For Kids have released the new EP It Takes A Nation Of Morons. The extended player is available in indie record stores and online through www.fourthworldrecords.bigcartel.com. Launches in Sydney and Melbourne will happen in April.

Regurgitator and New York's Ratatat team up for a handful of east coast dates this April, including spots at the Essential Festival in Sydney and Melbourne. Joining both bands will be New Zealand's Shocking Pinks. Later in the year, October will see Regurgitator embark on its first ever mainland China tour and album release. Further details »

Friday, 14th

The Mess Hall have have taken out 2007 Australian Music Prize (AMP) for their second album Devils Elbow. The band will receive a $25,000 cash prize donated by PPCA (Phonographic Performance Company of Australia) and a $30,000 media campaign courtesy of XYZ Networks music channel Max. Winner of the Myspace public vote award was New Buffalo with her album for Somewhere, anywhere.

Teenagersintokyo have signed an international record deal with UK label Back Yard Recordings, home to The Gossip, Chromeo and The Similou. The deal will see the band's self-titled debut EP available throughout Europe from March 17. The release will be accompanied by a whirlwind tour of the UK and Europe during April / May, proceeded by some dates in Sydney and Queensland before getting jetting off. Further details »

Saturday, 8th

Say Cheese And Die simultaneously launches its album and calls it a day with an all ages show on Saturday March 22 at the Hellen Rose-Schauersberger Laboratorium, corner of Kippax and Waterloo St, Surry Hills, Sydney. Supports will be Melbourne band Quebec and Sydney's Straight Arrows. The album is available on 10" vinyl, CD and a free download from www.saycheeseanddie.org. The band is calling it a day due one of the members moving overseas.

Front End Loader heads out on the road this April and early May for a tour in support of its long awaited live album Laughing With Knives. Baseball launches its debut album Animal Kingdom with an east coast tour this March and April. The album was recorded on 2 inch tape at Head Gap Studios in Melbourne, and mastered by John Golden in California. Further details »
