New Buffalo returns to the live circuit with a run of headline shows this February and March. On stage, she will be joined by Jessica Venables (Sly Hats) on cello, keys and vocals, and Raquel Solier (Sir) on drums. Pivot has signed to Warp Records, with the first release to be the single In The Blood due out in May. The single is taken from the band's forthcoming second album due out later in the year. Before leaving for the UK and Europe, the band plays: Thursday March 20 - Oxford Arts Factory, Sydney; Friday March 28 - East Brunswick Club, Melbourne.
The ten artists short-listed for The 2007 Australian Music Prize have been announced and are as follows:- New Buffalo, Perry Keyes, Midnight Juggernauts, Lisa Miller, Devastations, Architecture In Helsinki, Dardanelles, The Mess Hall, Urthboy, and Bluejuice. The winner, who will be awarded with a cash prize of $25,000 as donated by PPCA, will be announced on Thursday March 13. The past winners were The Drones and Augie March.
Melbourne's Paddy Mann aka Grand Salvo releases his new album Death in stores March 15 through Spunk Records / Preservation. The long player, which is an "animal" concept record, will be the first to feature long-time backing vocalist Zoe Randell.

Dennis DePianto, best known to music fans as D.D. Meanie, passed away in St Vincent's Hopsital on February 14. The Meanies guitarist had been ill for some time with muscular dystrophy and, more recently, a short but stubborn battle with cancer. He will be buried in Adelaide, his home town. A memorial gathering is being planned in Melbourne.
Further celebrates its 10th year anniversary and release of its third album Tactics with a show on Saturday March 1 at the Hopetoun Hotel, Sydney. Supported on the night by Sounds Like Sunset and Talons. The long player is out now on Chatterbox Records.
My Disco is set to release its second album titled Paradise in stores February 24. The long player was recorded with Steve Albini at the famed Electrical Audio studio. Ghosts of Television return to Melbourne this weekend for the third time in a year to play Pony on Friday Feb 8, Roxanne on Saturday Feb 9 and on Sunday Feb 10 the St Kilda Festival. The band's debut EP Furthest Village from the Sun, produced by Gerling's Burke Reid, is set for release in late March.
