Friday, 28th

Soft Tigers have released their latest single Mr Icecream out on Below Bar Records. The single is accompanied by remixes from Chicago ghetto house producer DJ Waxmaster, New York outfit Japanther, and mash up masters Tre Told ‘Em (Gregg of Girl Talk and Frank Mussara of Hearts of Darknesses). To celebrate the release, the band will join Young and Restless on their album launch tour in Newcastle, Canberra and Sydney this October. Art of Fighting continues its national tour this week, with the tour continuing through till mid October. It has been ten years since the band released its debut EP The Very Strange Year, and it is celebrating with the release of the new single Mysteries taken from the band's third album Runaways. Thursday, 27th

Peabody releases the new single The Devil For Sympathy in stores September 29. The single is the first to be lifted from the band's forthcoming album, Prospero, due out in the first half of 2008. Accompanying the single are four extra tracks: 'Buzzard Vs. Ibis' also from the forthcoming album, a live recording of 'The New Violence', and two tracks exclusive to the single. Butterfingers releases the new single Nothin Much Happens on Valley Trash Records in stores October 13. The release will be supported with a tour this October and November. Further details »

Parkway Drive releases its new album Horizons instores October 6 on Resist Records. In support of the long player, the band will head out on a national tour during October - the band's first national tour since November 2006. Ben Lee returns to Australian shores for an east coat tour this October in support of his new album Ripe. The album features guest contributions from Mandy Moore, Benji Madden, Benmont Tench, Rachael Yamagata, Rooney, Sara Watkins, and Charlotte Martin. Supporting at all dates is Sydney's Wons Phreely. The Panda Band is set to relocate to New York, Brooklyn for roughly six months. The band will bid its hometown farewell with a show on Thursday October 4 at The Bwana Bar in Mandurah, Western Australia. This will be followed by a show in Perth on Friday October 5 at the Perth Royal Show to close out the band competition, and lastly a show on Sunday Oct 7 at Mojos. In support at The Bwana Bar and Mojos shows will be the band's good friends and national touring buddies New Rules For Boats plus Love You Not as openers.

Sunday, 23rd

The Pyramid Rock Festival returns to Phillip Island, Victoria over the New Year's weekend, from Saturday December 29 until Tuesday January 1. Epicure have released the new single Ghost Kisses as a digital download available from the band's site www.epicuretheband.com and other online music outlets now. Horsell Common releases its debut album The Rescue in stores September 29. The long player was recorded throughout June / July by US Producer Stephen Haigler (The Pixies, Brand New). The Wave Rock Weekender returns for its second year on the weekend of Saturday 29 September till Monday 1 October at Hyden, Western Australia. Located 340km east of Perth, the festival will feature performances from Katalyst, Mia Dyson, C.W. Abbie Cardwells' new longer player By Hook Or By Crook is to be released October 20. The album features her old brother Jeb on six string guitar, Andy Albanis on double bass, Ashley Davies of Matt Walker on drums, and special guest Bedge of the Bernard Fanning's band.

Golden Plains, the sister festival to the Meredith Music Festival, and also held at the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre returns for its second year in March 2008 on the long weekend of the 8th to the 10th. Friday, 14th

The Presets play a New Year's Eve show in Melbourne at Billboard The Venue, 170 Russell St. Also performing on the night is US DJ Girl Talk, with more guests to be announced. Tickets go on sale Friday September 21.

Monday, 10th

The Smallgoods hit the road in September for an east coast tour to launch their third album Down on the Farm. Out now, the long player was recorded over two and half years with engineer Marcus Barczak and features guest appearances from Pete Cohen (Sodastream), Jodi Phillis (The Clouds), Paul Rigby (The Rectifiers), and Nic Dalton. The Tren Brothers, a duo made up of Dirty Three members Mick Turner and Jim White, launch their recently released album Blue Trees in Melbourne with a solo performance from Mick on Thursday October 4 at The Toff In Town supported by Fabulous Diamonds and Chris Smith. Mick also has a new exhibition of his paintings opening in Melbourne later this month at Brightspace, St Kilda from September 20 to October 14.

Friday, 7th

Midnight Juggernauts tour the US and Canada this October supporting French dance duo Justice. Whilst in New York the band will perform two showcases at the CMJ Music Festival. The band continues to tour its debut album Dystopia in Australia, and has added two extra Sydney shows: Thursday September 20 @ University of NSW; Friday September 21 @ Mona Vale Hotel. Thursday, 6th

Ed Kuepper releases the new album Jean Lee and the Yellow Dog this October - his first album of new material since 2001. Inspired by the the story of Jean Lee, the last woman hanged in Australia, the album features guest performances from Jeffrey Wegener (Laughing Clowns), Peter Oxley (Sunnyboys), Warren Ellis (Dirty Three) and Chris Bailey (The Saints). In support of the release, Kuepper and his new band the Kowalski Collective - featuring Oxley and Wegener - embark on a national tour kicking off in October. Brisbane, Sydney and Victorian audiences will to get to see the collective perform as a seven piece with the addition of keyboard/cellist Jane Elliott and a three-piece horn section. Monday, 3rd

Legs 11 returns for the second year running on on Friday October 26 at The Domain, Sydney. The benefit for breast cancer research will feature performances from Missy Higgins joined by the Sydney Youth Orchestra, The Waifs, Paul Kelly, Blue King Brown and No Man's Woman which sees Bob Evans, End Of Fashion, Lior, Expatriate and Dan Kelly doing their versions of songs made famous by iconic female artists. Cog releases the new single What If in stores October 27 through Dfrnt Music. The single is the first to be lifted from the band's forthcoming second album due out January 2008. Working once again with producer Silvia Massy Shivy, the band will wrap up production of the record in October before returning to home shores for a national tour kicking off early November.
