This September The Gaelic Club plays host to a two night Oz hip-hop party. Thursday September 6 sees performances from Def Wist Cast, Spit Syndicate, plus DJ sets from Skoob and DJ Codex. The Meredith Music Festival returns for its seventeenth year on December 14 to 16 at the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre, Meredith, Victoria. The first round of acts to be announced are Little Red, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Gotye, Cut Copy, Muscles, The Ned Collette Band, Lady Strangelove, DJ Mu-Gen, Midnight Juggernaut; plus internationals The Gossip, The Black Lips, Andrew WK, Art Brut, Clutch, and Junior Reid. Mia Dyson heads out on the road from mid September right through to early November for a national tour in support of her just released album Struck Down on Black Door Records. The long player, her third album, was again co-produced with Lloyd Barratt but features a new rhythm section of drummer Angus Diggs (Jeff Lang, Don Walker and Wilson-Diesel) and bassist James Haselwood. Wednesday, 22nd

The Drones, after touring Europe and the United Kingdom for the past four months, return to home shores for a national tour to support the release of their Live In Madrid DVD out now on Munster Records. Sydney's FBi Radio celebrates its fourth birthday with three levels of live music and DJs on Sunday September 2 at the World Bar, Kings Cross. Performing for the benefit will be Muscles, Bang Gang boys Ajax and Jaime Doom, Lost Valentinos, Ned Collette, Cuthbert and the Nightwalkers, The Paper Scissors, Rand and Holland, Sleater Brockman, and PhDj. The night also doubles as the launch for the station's new double CD compilation It's The Beat, featuring tracks from the Midnight Juggernauts, Dappled Cities Fly, Architecture in Helsinki, and many more.

Saturday, 18th

The Falls Festival returns this December for its fifteenth year running in Lorne and fifth year in Tasmania. The first round of acts to be announced are Paul Kelly, The Waifs, Gotye, The Mess Hall, Kev Carmody, Whiskey Go Go’s; plus internationals Kings of Leon, Groove Armada, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Built To Spill, José González, Blackalicious, The Go! Sydney based songstress Loene Carmen releases her third album, Rock’ N’ Roll Tears in stores August 25. The long player was recorded in a country barn over three summer days by Jorden Brebach. Throughout September and October, she will undertake an east coast launch tour with album collaborators Jed Kurzel (Mess Hall) on guitars and Sam Worrad (Holy Soul) on bass, and Cec Condon (Mess Hall) on drums. Regurgitator releases its sixth album Love And Paranoia out September 15 on Valve. The album was recorded during the past year in Brazil and features the latest addition to the band, Seja Vogel from Sekiden, on keyboards. Friday, 17th

Kid Cornered launches his self-titled album at The Last Bastion - Suite 202, 267-271 Cleveland St, Surry Hills (just above Mao and More) - on Saturday August 25. Support for the evening will be Joel Silbersher of The Tendrils, Hoss and Tex Perkins fame.

The Tucker B's return to the live arena for two shows in Sydney and Perth: Friday Aug 31 @ Hopetoun Hotel, Sydney w/ Adam Said Galore and Doom Buggy; Saturday Sep 1 @ Amplifier Bar, Perth w/ Benedict Moleta (CD Launch), The Leap Year and Josh Fontaine.

Midget, fresh from recent reunion shows in Sydney, return to Melbourne for the first time in eight years to play the Northcote Social Club on Friday October 12. Supports on the night will be Shooting At Unarmed Men and Black Level Embassy.

Thursday, 16th

New Buffalo heads out on the road from mid August as part of Deborah Conway's national Broad Festival. This will be followed by dates with Paul Kelly during the remainder of August and September. November and December will see her on the road once again this time supporting Missy Higgins and Tim Rogers. In other news August 28 sees the release of her album Somewhere, anywhere in the US on the Arts & Crafts label. Following on from the release will be a US tour taking in dates on the North East Coast with label mates Stars, and dates on the West Coast w/ Broken Social Scene's Kevin Drew. Further details »

Wednesday, 15th

Sydney quartet Bright Red releases its debut single New York Kid through RiSH Records on August 18. The band is made up of Neige and 'O' Koppes, Chevy Huban and Nick Kennedy. The single will be launched the over two dates: Saturday August 18 @ Manly Fishos w/ The Cops and Sparkadia; Thursday September 13 @ Candy's Apartment w/ Fair Accompli, Warhorse and Army Ant. The band is currently preparing for an east coast tour in September and October.

Eddy Current Suppression Ring has recorded a new track Demon's Demand, which is available as a free download. The song was written exclusively for the new Melbourne independent film Constructing Fear – a forty minute documentary made by Melbourne film maker Joe Loh. The track is available for download from the film's website www.constructingfear.com.

Saturday, 11th

Grand Fatal has released the single Dot And Dashes as a digital download from iTunes on new label Chatterbox E, marking the debut release for Chatterbox Records' new digital label. The single was recorded in March 2007 with long term collaborator JonBoyRock.

Sydney band Ghostwood - previously known as The Ghosts - releases its 5 track self-titled EP August 25 on Modular Recordings. In support of the release the band will be touring nationally during August and September. Further details »

Friday, 10th

Horsnell Common release the single Good From Afar on September 1 through Boomtown Records. The single is the first to taken from the band's forthcoming debut album The Rescue due out September 29. To launch the single, the band will tour the east coast during September as part of Breakout 07, alongside Grinspoon, The Butterfly Effect, Youth Group, Gyroscope, and Little Birdy. October will see the band playing Triple J's AWOL festival in Burnie, Tasmania. Further details »

Thursday, 9th

Cuthbert and the Night Walkers are set to release their debut album in mid-October. Before then the band plays a handful of dates in late August with Dead Letter Chorus. Further details »

The City Lights release their second album El Sol in stores August 18 on Ivy League Records. Since the 2004 debut LP, the group has undergone a line-up change with the addition of Kit Warhurst (Rocket Science) on drums, Bruno Brayovic (Peabody) on guitar, and Graeme Trewin (ex-Peabody) as the second drummer. They join existing members the Roden brothers James and Harry, and Danny Allen (Youth Group). The band launches the record in Sydney on Friday September 28 at the Hopetoun Hotel.

Monday, 6th

Kid Cornered, the song writing vehicle for Matthew Toohey, has released his second album on Half A Cow Records. The self-titled album was recorded with Emma Hoy (The Rebel Astronauts, El Mopa) in a house turned studio in Petersham. The album will be launched in Sydney in late August.

Crettins Puddle return for a special one-off reunion show in Melbourne on Friday August 31 at the Arthouse with supports MDK, The Resignators, and Magentaline. It's the band's first show in eight and a half years - the last show back in January 1999 headlining the local stage at the Warped festival.

Saturday, 4th

Tim Rogers is set to release his new solo album The Luxury Of Hysteria in late September on his own label Ruby Q Records. November and December will see him on the road supporting Missy Higgins.

Missy Higgins will travel throughout Australia during November and December for a national tour. Dubbed "... For One Night Only", the tour will see her and her band perform strictly one show only in each place they visit. You Am I front-man, Tim Rogers, will open proceedings on the tour. Missy's new EP Where I Stood is in stores August 4. Tickets for all dates will go on sale at 9am on Tuesday August 14. Further details »

Friday, 3rd

The Hard-Ons have released their new album Most People Are Nicer Than Us on Chatterbox Records. The band will be touring UK and Europe during August and September, followed by an Australian tour in December.

Dead Letter Circus heads out on the road once again, this time in support of the latest single Are We Closer?. The tour kicks off late August and continues through to mid October. Further details »

Thursday, 2nd

The Waifs have been added to the line-up for this weekend's Splendour in the Grass festival following the cancellation by Damien Rice due to health reasons. Similarly UK outfit the Klaxons have also had to pull out due to injury. The show coincides with the release of The Waifs' new single Sun Dirt Water due in store August 4 through Jarrah Records. The single is the first from and also the title track of the band's forthcoming studio album due out September 1.
