Bluebottle Kiss guitarist and backup vocalist, Ben Fletcher, has left the band. The long term member, who has been in the band for the past eleven years, played his last show with them last Sunday, July 25 at Hotel Bondi. Ben will now focus his efforts on his own project, The Devoted Few.

The John Butler Trio releases What You Want - the next single from the highly acclaimed album, Sunrise Over Sea - on August 9. The Daze - the new band for Melbourne singer and songwriter Nick Conolly - has finished its debut album, Olinda Daze, the result of two years recording and mixing. Man Bites God, before touring the UK in August as part of the Edinburgh Fringe, plays one last Australian show on Wednesday July 28 at the Rob Roy Hotel, Fitzroy. The band's journey to the Edinburgh Fringe will be the subject of a six part television documentary, by independent Sydney-based producer Mary Harrington.
Frost releases its new EP, The Ususal Suspects, in September on Lemon Records/MGM. Three tracks of the four track CD, were recorded in 2002 with Jerry Speiser (Men At Work) on drums, and produced by Danny Jumpertz (Ferial Media/Plankton) as part of the SBS Whatever Music Project. The fourth track was was recorded at My Friends Place in Ringwood, earlier this year. The band will be holding a CD launch later in the year and will be joined by Rowan Heddle (ex-Cordrazine) on drums.
Cryin Skies, following the success of its June residency at the Townhall, Newtown, returns for a Sunday night residency in August. The performances are free, and happen 7 till 11pm. The group features members of Dogbuoy, Front End Loader, The Substitutes, The Ramblers, Nitocris and Bluejuice.
Clare Bowditch plays a special concert on Thursday September 2 at the Corner Hotel to raise awareness and money for the rape crisis centre Casa Amiga in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. She will be joined by Folding For Air and a special duet performance from Katie Noonan and Paul Grabowsky. Clare has a personal connection with the centre, having spent time there in 2001 and learning of the murders through a local woman. The Nation Blue has finished mixing its new album, titled Damnation. The album was recorded and mixed at Metropolis Studios in Melbourne, as well as other parts recorded in studios from Nunawading to New York over the last three months. The album features guest appearances from: members of My Disco, Marika (Modern Warfare), Mike Noga and Gareth Edwards (Sandro), Laura McFarlane (Ninetynine), Louis Boyes (Breakdowns), Adalita and Raul (Magic Dirt), Linda J (Little Ugly Girls), Scott McCloud (Girls vs Boys). The album is slated for a mid-September release on Casadeldisco through Shock, with a national tour to follow closely.
Soap Star Joe have called it a day after eight years of performing together. The band originally started out under the name of God Is My Co-Pilot, and since then has appeared on several compilations, released a handful of EPs, 7" vinyl singles and the recent debut album, ...Tell Her On The Weekend. No final shows have been announced.
The Max Sessions - a cable television program, featuring locally produced live and intimate concerts - returns for series two this August and September.
