Tuesday, 29th

Flow Dynamics is the new electronic project for Dave McKinney, one of the founders of Perth's Rhibosome. Featuring lots of live musicians, studio trickery, and everything between, the project has a full album coming out later in the year. For more information visit www.flowdynamics.com.au

Arbuckle tours Sydney this July performing Thursday July 15 at Candy's Apartment, Kings Cross. The band's new EP, No Heroics, is out now on Non Zero Records, and distributed nationally by Shock.

The Ang Fang Quartet has finished recording its third album, entitled Anonymity, and due out late 2004. The record includes material from The Gold Rush, previously unrecorded tracks for the group's scores to Nosferatu and Faust, and much more.

The Musicoz Awards, an event recognising the talents of unsigned and independent artists, is now open for entries. There is no age restriction and the competition offers a wide spread of genres in which to submit. The awards will be held on December 1 at WIN Entertainment Centre in Wollongong, and broadcast across Australia. Entrants have until July 31st to get their entry, and can do so by visiting www.musicoz.org

Bit By Bats embarks on a east coast tour for the first time, kicking off in July and winding up in early August. The band is joined by Sydney's Youth Group and newcomers I [Love] Space. Available at the shows will be a limited edition tour EP, Sir! Beat Sir!, featuring some rare unreleased tracks. Only 100 copies of the release will be pressed. Further details »

TISM hits the road this July and August for an east coast tour promote the new album, The White Album. Out now, the album features 16 new tracks, plus two DVDs. This is a rare chance to see the band, as it only performs every two years or so. Further details »

Steve Parkin, ex-member of Perth outfit Autopilot, is releasing his debut album in August. The album was recorded at Fremantle's Debaser Studios. In the lead up to the release, Steve will be touring the east coast in July with Little Birdy. Further details »

Paper Tiger launches its debut EP, While You Are Gone, on Saturday July 10 at The Jade Monkey - 29a Twin St, Adelaide. Supporting the band on the night will be Melbourne's Tamas Wells - who is also launching its debut album - and Straight to Video. The extended player will be released nationally through Patterns in Static at the beginning of July.

Friday, 18th

The Studio Music Sessions, a series of intimate concerts at The Studio at Sydney Opera House, returns for its sixth year this July and August. Saturday July 10 and Sunday July 11, sees Jeff Lang launches his new album, Whatever Makes You Happy, over two nights. Sunday July 25 bares witness to a performance from Nations By The River. Wednesday, 16th

Shake Yer Popboomerang Volume 2, a new compilation of Australian guitar pop and rock, put out by Popboomerang Records, is launched in Sydney this weekend, on Saturday June 19 at the Hopetoun Hotel. The line-up is Sneeze, Lazy Susan, The Suits, Shifter and Tamas Well - all of which appear on the compilation.

Velure tours Sydney this July, performing Friday July 9 at the Mandarin Club - 386 Pitt St, City. The Melbourne trip-hop act joins a line-up of Deepchild, Hermitude, Sub Bass Snarl and Meem doing a DJ set.

Missy Higgins, between touring with the John Butler Trio and Pete Murray, plays some of her own shows: Tuesday June 22 @ Cornish Arms Hotel, Melbourne; Monday June 28 @ The Vanguard, Sydney. The last few months have seen her recording her debut album in America with producer John Porter (Ryan Adams, The Smiths) and mixer Jay Newland (Norah Jones). The first release from these sessions will be Scar, a four song EP due for release in late July.

Gerling tours the US this June and July in support of Bad Blood!!!'s release in the USA and Canada through Fenway Recordings on July 14. The June leg of the tour is part of the Suicide Girls Burlesque show, while July sees the band co-headling with Canada's The Red Light Sting. Also on the overseas release front, the Japanese release of the album will be on July 7 through Sony Music. Further details »

Cryin Skies are performing a Sunday night residency at the Town Hall Hotel, Newtown throughout the month of June. They will perform 3 sets from 6pm with originals plus some classic covers from Beck, Tom Waits, Lucinda Williams, Woody Guthrie and The Darkness. The group features members of Dogbuoy, Front End Loader, The Substitutes, The Ramblers, Nitocris, Bluejuice and Andrew G from Australian Idol.

Bluebottle Kiss hits the road this June and July for an east tour in support of the new EP, The Last Playboy In Town, due out June 21. October will see the band touring the US and Europe in support of the US release of Come Across on boutique label In Music We Trust. Further details »

Rhibosome has undergone a line-up change, with the departure of Dave McKinney - who is now working on his new project, Flow Dynamics - and the addition of Ryan Grieves. In other news, the group's self-titled album will be released in the UK, Europe and Japan on Freestyle records.

Anne McCue's new album, Roll, gets an Australian release on July 5, through Cooking Vinyl/Shock. She will be touring Sydney and Melbourne in support of the release performing: Thursday July 8 @ Hopetoun Hotel, Sydney; Saturday July 10 @ The Cornish Arms, Melbourne.

Eternal Champions perform for one night only on Thursday June 24 at Candy's Apartment, Kings Cross with Your Wedding Night, Midnight Juggernauts and Kiosk. The band consists of Spod on bass guitar and programming; The Kid (Further) on guitar; Krylon (Spod) on synth; Rudi (theHEAD) on synth.

Sunday, 13th

Magic Dirt hits the road this June till early August for dates in Victoria, Newcastle, Sydney, Perth and Melbourne. The band's fourth album, Tough Love, has been re-released with a bonus CD of the Triple J Live At The Wireless session from August 2003. Further details »

Perth hardcore rock outfit, Headshot, has called it a day but not before releasing its last EP, 451. Named after the classic Ray Bradbury novel, Farenheit 451, the EP is released Australia-wide in July by Sic Squared Records through MGM Distribution. The posthumous release collects new studio tracks recorded just before the band split with previously unreleased live tracks. It also features live photography from the band's last ever live performance and liner notes from WA music journalist Mike Wafer.

Thursday, 10th

Seascapes Of The Interior tours Sydney this July performing: Thursday July 15 @ The Cat & Fiddle, Balmain w/ Greenland, Underlapper & TBA; Saturday July 17 @ The Excelsior, Surry Hills w/ Mousemoon & Bertie Blackman. The period between September and December sees the band recording its second album.

Sydney duo, The Presets, hits the road this June and July, opening for The Dissociatives. The debut EP, Blow Up, is out now on Modular Recordings. Further details »

The Sunnyboys receives the compilation treatment with the release of This Is Real on August 15 - marking the 24th anniversary of the band's debut performance at Chequers in Sydney as support to the Lipstick Killers. The two disc CD contains all the single A&B sides, rare and unreleased studio material plus a live CD drawn from three radio broadcasts, EON-FM in Melbourne in 1981, Triple J in Sydney in 1981 and 1982 plus one track from the Mushroom Evolution Concert in Melbourne in 1982.

Wednesday, 9th

Spendour In The Grass organisers have announced the final acts for this year's sold out festival. The Dissociatives, The Tremors, Groove Dalley, Sneaky Sound System, Infusion, Katalyst (DJ set), Bexta, Slinky, Rocket Science, Hilltop Hoods, Cut Copy, The Herd, Vanlustbader, James De La Cruz, DJ Peril, Slinky plus internationals Fiery Furnaces, Dizzee Rascal, Dashboard Confessional all join the line-up. Re-fashioned Vol 2 - British Airwave is the second volume of Groovescooter's compilation series, which see Australian artists reworking underground classics and well known tunes from the 80s. The compilation features 19 tracks in all, and is out now on Groovescooter Records.

Flipside is a new compilation by Candle Records that features ten songs, by acts on its rooster, that have been reinterpreted and rearranged. The release will be available instores from Monday July 5 and distributed by MGM.

The Rectifiers launches its new EP, Levy, in Sydney this Friday, June 11 at @Newtown. Supports are Symbiotic - who contributed seven remixes to the aforementioned EP - and Tooth. The release is out now on Sensory Projects and distributed by Inertia.

Iron On tours the east coast this coming July, taking in Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, Gold Coast, Brisbane and Byron Bay. Before that happens, the group supports Jebediah and Jackson United (USA) this Saturday, June 12 at the Waterloo Hotel. Gabriel's Days performs a run of dates in Sydney and Victoria in support of the single, Swansong. Recorded in London and produced by Rainmaker (The Clash, New Order, Ash), the single is the first to be lifted to be lifted from the debut album, Anthems & Intimacies, due out mid 2004.
