Tuesday, 30th

Tamas Wells launch the debut album, A Mark In The Pane, on Saturday May 8 at the Rob Roy Hotel, Melbourne. The band is joined by special guests The Guild League and Kim Beales (UK). The album is out now on Popboomerang Records.

Crimes Of The Primary's debut album, Coma, is released April 5 on Hoop Culture Records, distributed by MGM. The album, mixed and co-produced by Jeremy Allom (Massive Attack, The Human League), will be supported by a national tour in June / July.

Ruteger launch their new album, Formation Of Flight, on Thursday April 8 at the Golden Vine Hotel, Bendigo. Supports on the night are Bohdan Dower (Sender) & Skip (Ethanol). The eleven track album will be released May 3 on their own label Robot Records and distributed worldwide: Australia & New Zealand by MGM, Japan by Wizzard In Vinyl and United States/Canada by Jam Records.

Ruck Rover's third album, No Hints, No Clues, No Lies, is released April 5 on Candle Records, distributed by MGM. Rob Clarkson and Stanley Paulzen wrote the album, with Michael Allen on recording duties and Cameron McKenzie and Owen Bolwell mixing. The album is launched Saturday May 1 at the Pony, Melbourne.

The Lucksmiths - fresh from their hugely successful travels of US and European - head out on the road for a whirl wind five date tour, kicking off April 30 and winding up in late May. Once the tour is over, the band will commence work on their new album, due out later this year. Further details »

Monday, 29th

The Devoted Few are currently in the studio with producer Jonathan Burnside, recording the follow up to their debut of 2002. With the working title of The Billboard Noises, the new album will include special guest appearances from: Augie March, The Camels, Centipede, Peter Fenton, Horse Stories, Peabody and an all star kids choir. The first single off the album and subsequent tour is scheduled for May.

EquiNiBriuM play an all ages show on Saturday April 3 at the Newcastle Leagues Club. The band is joined by supports Makeshift, Dragline and Calm. Tickets $5 pre-sale at the venue or $7 at the door. The event is drug and alcohol free plus fully supervised.

Love of Diagrams return to Adelaide on Saturday April 3 to play at the Jade Monkey with locals Simpleman. The night is the first in a series of shows on the first Saturday of each month, presented by Patterns in Static. DJs Nightmonster, Leighstardust and Ben Speed will be spinning tunes from midnight until late. Doors open at 9pm and entry is only $6 or $2 after midnight.

Wednesday, 24th

GB3 aka Underground Lovers' Glenn Bennie, following the success launch of his debut album in October, performs a rare live show on Saturday April 3 at the Rob Roy Hotel, Fitzroy. Joining Glenn on stage will be Philippa Nihill, Maurice Argiro, Rob Tickner and Andrew Nunns. Supports are Heligoland and The Lovetones from Sydney. The album Circlework is out now on Rubber Records.

Purplene launch their new single, Swords Down, this Thursday March 25 at the Hopetoun Hotel, Surry Hills. The single is the first to be lifted from their forthcoming self-titled album, recorded and produced by Steve Albini in Chicago late last year. The album is due out on Big Dipper/Inertia on April 19, and the single is available instores now.

Friday, 19th

City City City launch their debut album, Dawn And The Blue Light District, on Easter Sunday April 11 at Revolver Upstairs, Melbourne. The seven piece band will be supported by Pretty Boy Crossover, performing their first show in more than a year. The album is released March 29 through Sensory Projects, distributed by Inertia.

Purdy - aka Kevin Purdy, member of Sydney group Tooth - releases his second album, Fairytale Insurance, on 23 March on his own label Soft distributed by Inertia. Full of lush melodies and rich textures, the album is the follow up to his debut of 2000. Guest musicians on the album include: John Maddox (Tooth), Kim Moyes (Prop), Peter Hollo (Fourplay), Bobby Singh and The Vapour Girls.

Friday, 5th

Jet embark on their first ever national Australian tour this April and May. Joining the band for the east coast leg of the tour will be UK outfit, The Stands, while The Pictures support in Adelaide and Western Australia. Tickets go on sale Thursday March 18. Further details »

Dappled Cities Fly launch their new single, Peach, in Sydney and Melbourne this March. They perform: Wednesday Mar 17 @ Annandale, Sydney w/ The Crayon Fields and Quarter Acre; Saturday Mar 20 @ Rob Roy, Melbourne w/ The Crayon Fields, City City City and Midstate Orange. Recorded and produced by Jonathan Burnside at Razor's Edge studio in Coogee, the single is the first to be lifted from their debut album due out mid year. The single is strictly limited to 200 hand-coloured and individually numbered copies.

Splendour In The Grass organisers have announced this year's festival will be happening on the weekend of July 24 and 25 at Belongil Fields in Byron Bay. No lineup details at this stage but in the interim check out www.splendourinthegrass.com

Lazy Susan hit the road this March for a quick three-city tour of the east coast in support of their new album, Never Better. The album - follow up to their debut of 2001 and featuring the single Sometimes - was recorded last year with producer Phil McKellar (Cruel Sea, Silverchair, Grinspoon). Further details »

The Hauntingly Beautiful Mousemoon undertake an extensive tour of the east coast in March and April before embarking on a tour of the UK and Europe, kicking off in June and carrying through till August. World Ladeez Night, put on by Melbourne community radio station 3CR, happens on Monday March 8 at the Corner Hotel. Part of the International Women's Day celebrations, the event will feature performances by: Lisa Miller, Milk, Origami, MCFM, Sweet Cheeks and Deb Morrow. Comedian Nelly Thomas, winner of JJJ's raw comedy comp will be the MC.
