Tuesday, 30th

Domestic Clone Unit have decided to call it a day, with the band set to perform their last show last show on Thursday November 6 @ Bull 'n' Bush Hotel, Baulkham Hills. The band will be supported by Sans Chavelle and entry is free.

Wednesday, 24th

You Am I have parted ways with BMG Australia, the band's home since 1998, and are now taking steps to form their own label. The band will start recording a new record in Melbourne in the new year and are already in discussion with several UK and US labels about licensing the record for simultaneous release around the world next year.

Night Train and Little Smoke host a double CD launch on Saturday October 11 at Canberra's ANU Bar. Little Smoke will be launching their debut EP, whilst Night Train are launching their new single Black Sally Lane, recorded with a string quartet from the Sydney Symphony Orchestra & currently being mixed and mastered in the US. Supporting will be Ben and Kate from Meatbee in acoustic mode. Doors open at 8pm, with Happy Hour at the bar from 8-9pm, entry is just $7.

UN Niteclub is a new Sydney venue combining live bands and club culture. Formerly known as DCM Niteclub, the venue has undergone a $1.6 facelift over the last 3 months. As part of the new live aspect Endorphin will be performing on stage from 11pm till midnight this Saturday September 27. The Vanguard - a new live music venue in Newtown, dedicated to jazz, blues and roots music - is set to open its doors on Thursday October 9 with a performance by The Backsliders. The intimate, purpose built venue, features a restaurant with seating for 160. The venue will be open six nights, Tuesday-Sunday, from 5pm till 12am and is located at 42 King, Street Newtown. Band Camp, recent Triple J Unearthed Melbourne winners, launch their debut EP Sugar High on Wednesday October 1 at Revolver Upstairs - 229 Chapel Street, Prahran. Supports are Chris Altmann (The Drowners) and Tugboat.

Amiel and band head out on the road from late September till early October in support of her debut album Audio Out. The tour coincides with the release of Tonight, the third single to be lifted from the album, on September 29. In other news Amiel has scored five nominations for the 17th Annual ARIA Music Awards, making her third most nominated artist alongside Powderfinger.

This Is Your Captain Speaking, a Melbourne-based instrumental outfit, head over to Adelaide to play a show with Brer Mouse and European No-Tech at the Jade Monkey on Friday October 17.

Man Bites God preview their new Fringe Festival show Smooth this Wednesday September 24 at the Kitten Club - level 1, 267 Little Collins St, Melbourne. The show will see the band exchange their usual instrumentation for piano, upright bass and brushed drums. The show will be repeated on Wednesday October 1 and again on October 8. In other news the band has just finished mastering their debut album, which will be available mid October.

Michael Allen (Ruck Rover, ex-TOSAW) will play his only solo show of the year on Wednesday September 24 at the Rob Roy Hotel. He will be supported by Surrogate Turnip and Wes Davidson (ex-Weave). Entry is free and the show kicks off at 7:30pm. Michael's third album Stargazer is out now.

Small World Experience perform two rare shows, their only two for the rest of the year, on Friday Sept 26 at the Cue Bar with New Season, Julian Williams and The Ancients, and Sunday Sept 28 at the Rob Roy front bar with Panel Of Judges and Your Wedding Night. The group is currently working on new material for their next long player.

Radio Birdman have been announced as the headline act for the Saturday night of this year's Meredith Music Festival, happening from Friday December 12 till Sunday December 14 at the Supernatural Amphitheatre, Meredith Victoria. Tuesday, 23rd

Crown & Anchor Hotel - located 196 Grenfell St, Adelaide - is turning 150 years old and to celebrate the occasion is hosting a month packed with free live music in October. The official festivities kick off on Fri Oct 3 with King Daddy, The Ramonettes + Digger and the Pussycats. Before that happens They're Bats (Love Like Electrocution), Limit Of Shunt + My Disco will be warming things up on Thursday night. Sunday stays open 'til 3am with the Iron Shieks + Black Belt Jones earlier in the eve. The following week on Sat Oct 11 sees Captain Cleanoff, Nihilism and Kamikaze plus plenty more through out the month.

Thursday, 18th

Founder play in support of Cat Power aka Chan Marshall for the final show on her sold tour on Friday September 19 @ Gaelic Club, Surrey Hills. The band is on onstage at 8:30pm.

Modern Giant take a break from the studio - where they've busy been the past few months recording a few tunes with Simon Holmes - to perform two shows in late September. The first a free acoustic performance on Wednesday Sept 24 at the Rose in Erskinville with Bernie Hayes, the second in full band mode on Thursday Sept 25 at the Mandarin Club - 396 Pitt St, city - supported by The Mekonics.

Wednesday, 17th

Exile is a new rock'n'roll night happening every Friday night at Jive - Hindley Street, Adelaide. Opening night on September 26 will feature live performances from Baby Doll and Kamikaze from 9pm, followed by DJ Ian and Trash on the decks till late.

The Go Set embark on a tour of Victoria and Queensland in October, followed by shows in Tasmania in late November and lastly dates in WA in early December. The band's debut EP Welcome To The New Dimension is out now. Further details »

Monday, 15th

The Avenues - featuring members of Perth outfits Cartman, Adora, Bordello and Purrvert - embark on a brief run of east coast dates this week. They perform in Sydney on Thursday Sept 18 @ The Sandringham Hotel, Newtown and in Melbourne on Saturday Sept 20 @ The Espy, St Kilda.

The Lucksmiths, having enjoyed a run of successful shows launching their new EP A Little Distraction, head overseas in October and November to tour the UK and Spain. Joining the band at some shows will be fellow Australians, Sodastream. Further details »

Sunday, 14th

Sime Nugent and the Forefathers launch The Undertow at the Corner Hotel, Richmond on Sunday October 5 with support from C.W. Stoneking. The record, the follow-up to their 2002 debut album More About The Benefits Of Hindsight, was co-produced by Shane O'Mara.

Thursday, 11th

Regurgitator release Nein, Nein, Nein... the Slumber of the Beast, a DVD of live footage recorded at a series of shows in December 2002 / January 2003 period, on September 15.

You Am I release The Cream & The Crock, a collection of 15 of their most lauded and loved tunes, on September 15. Prop launch their remix album Cook Cut Damage Destroy on Saturday September 27 at The Gaelic Club, Surry Hills. The album features remixes by Paul Mac, Pnau, The Presets, Decoder Ring, Stereolab and many more of tracks off their debut Small Craft Rough Sea. On the night they will be joined by Telemetry Orchestra performing live, DJs Seymour Butz, Mako, Alterboy, performance art by Imogen Kelly and visuals by Trajectory & Kris Moyes.

Wednesday, 10th

Josivac, Perth folk/rock five-piece and winners of the WA 2002 Next Big Thing, embark on their first east coast during September and early October in support of their debut EP Too Cold. Vantage launch their EP All That Is New on Saturday September 13 at the Duke Of Windsor Hotel, cnr High and Chapel St, Prahran. They are joined by special guests Second Dan and Ruteger.

The Cannanes perform four sets for a farewell show on Friday September 12 at the Warren View Hotel, Marrickville. This will be the band's last show before heading off for shows in Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka and Kyoto starting in Tokyo on Friday September 19.

Ghost Of The Civil Dead, a Screamingbloodymess.com production, happens on Saturday September 27 at the Vic On The Park Hotel. Performing from 4:30pm till around midnight will be a lineup of 10 bands - Conation, Pure Evil, Unclean, Dot Dot Dot, Staying At Home, Means To An End, Brisk, Thought Crime, Breeds There A Man and No Jazz Before The Rumble. Freedom Festival 2003 is a new festival to be held from Thursday 27 to Sunday 30 of November, at venues across Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra. The festival is being held to raise money for Amnesty International Australia’s activities to promote human rights. Alex Lloyd releases his third long player Distant Light on September 29, followed by a minimal number of concert dates across Australia from late October onwards. The album was co-produced by Alex together with Stuart Miller and mixed in LA by Tony Hoffer. Tickets for the tour - which will see Alex joined by his six piece band - go on sale Friday October 3. The Meridith Music Festival returns for its thirteenth year on Friday December 12 till Sunday December 14 at the Supernatural Amphitheatre, Meredith Victoria. Rock It - Western Australia's own and largest local annual concert event - returns for its fourth year on Sunday November 23 at Arena Joondalup. Wednesday, 3rd

The City Lights launch their new single Curse On Everyone (Hey! Hey! Hey!) on Saturday September 6 at the Hopetoun Hotel with special guests Ground Components and Gazoonga Attack. The double A-side single - which also features the track "You Stand Accused Young" - was recorded in Stagefright Studios in Sydney with Michael Carpenter and is the band's first release since signing to Ivy League / Slanted Recordings.

Even launch The Street Press Years - a compilation featuring fifteen of their most popular tunes to date - on Saturday September 6 at the Espy Gershwin Room with special guests The Morning After Girls and The Suits.

Crank, before touring overseas, perform one last local show on Saturday September 6 @ The Vic On The Park Hotel w/ Dime a Dozen, The Optionals and The Breakout. The band then spend rest of September touring Europe, followed by dates in UK during October - in all performing 43 shows in 44 days.

Disaster Plan head up to Sydney this month, performing on Friday September 19 at the Annandale Hotel with The Devoted Few and Ninety Nine. Magic Dirt hit the road through out September for an extensive east coast tour to promote their fourth album Tough Love. Tuesday, 2nd

Bleeding Hearts launch their self-titled album on Saturday September 27 at the Prince Albert Hotel in Adelaide. The band is joined by special guest Hardy Coxon. The show will mark a decrease in the frequency of their live performances with the band to only play three times a year from hence forth.
