Wednesday, 29th

Belladonna DIY Fest 2003 happens Thursday November 27 till Saturday November 29, starting 12noon each day, at the Wollongong Youth Centre (cnr Keira & Burelli St). Along with the zine fair, workshops and markets will be bands performing including: Conation, Far Left Limit, The Stockholm Syndrome, Pure Evil, Fourdead, All In Deep Shit, Bitchcraft, Thought Crime, Milk Panda, Altered Beast, The Plague, Aphra Behn, Both Hands and more TBA. The Heavy Horses release their self-titled debut album November 10 on the Ryecatcher label, distributed by MGM. The group features the songwriting bent of Nick Hurford, who has tramped the boards with the likes of The Lovetones, Tim Oxley and Jodi Phillis.

Sense Of Purpose, having supported AFI and Strike Anywhere in the past couple of months, are back on Saturday November 1 at The Green Room in Melbourne headlining Hardcore Rising. The event, kicking off at 8pm, includes August Reign, Dying Breed, Carpathian and Final Strike.

Tuesday, 28th

Club Splurt - located Chardons Corner Hotel, 688 Ipswich Road, Annerley - plays host to a handful of afternoon all ages shows this November: Saturday Nov 1 w/ King Mungi, Kizmet, No Innocence, Gambler; Sunday Nov 2 w/ 8 ft Sativa (New Zealand), D-Nine, Headkase, Clauz (CD Launch), Brace; Sunday Nov 22 w/ Conation.

Man Bites God launch their debut self-titled album on Wednesday November 19 at the Corner Hotel, Richmond. The album features guest appearances by a number of Melbourne musicians as well as actor/comedian Bob Franklin (Bad Eggs, Crashburn). Supports on the night are Globe and Surrogate Turnip, with doors open 8pm and entry $12.

Beatnik Babies & Mescaline Fashions #3 is happening on Saturday November 15 at The Tote, Collingwood. Performing on the day will be Mid-State Orange, Cassette, Deloris, The Steinbecks, The Sound Platform, Paper Planes, The Ca$inos and The Crayon Fields plus DJs upstairs. The event kicks off 3pm and entry is $15.

Rambunctious are currently on the road in support of their new four track EP Killer Convenience out now thru Blank Vault/MGM. The duo combine acoustic guitar, vocal harmonies, drums, percussion and saxophone. Following the tour the band will return to the studio to complete a new album. Further details »

Monday, 27th

Bodyjar celebrate the ten year mark with the release of JArchives - a selection of their best tracks and a couple of new ones - on November 3. Accompanying the 14 track album is a DVD containing 18 film clips, live footage from Korea, backstage scenes and much more. To coincide with this achievement is a national tour throughout November and carrying into early December. Further details »

Cold Chisel, following the success their 'Ringside' shows held in Sydney in June 2003, take the event nationally with dates in Tamworth, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide before Christmas and then Hobart, Melbourne and Sydney in January 2004. The tour sees the band performing on a small rotating stage in the middle of the venue, hence the title. Coinciding with the tour is the release of the Ringside double album, a live recording of the concert in June, due for release November 14 through Warner Music. Further details »

Saturday, 25th

The Smallgoods, having spent the past two years honing their sound, release their debut album, Listen To The Radio, November 3 on Half A Cow and distributed by MGM. The album is full of sunshiney tunes that mix sweet three-part harmonies over feel good psychedelic pop.

The Morning After Girls release their debut self-titled EP - featuring the tracks 'Straight Thru You' and 'Hidden Spaces' - on November 10 out through Rubber Records. The group is currently on the road supporting Alex Lloyd, followed by a spot on the Homebake festival in December.

Monday, 13th

Peabody play their final headline show for 2003 on Saturday October 18 @ Vic On The Park, joined by special guests Soap Star Joe and The Camel. The band will then head back into the studio to start work on their next record, as well as performing at the Homebake festival in December.

Tone Orange launch their debut single, Heavy Handed, this month performing Friday Oct 17 @ Lansdowne Hotel, Sydney w/ SuperSonic & Colourblind; Saturday Oct 18 @ The Beachcomber Hotel, Central Coast w/ Colourblind; Saturday Oct 25 @ The Cambridge Hotel, Newcastle w/ Amathyst & The Looks. The single is out now, distributed by Didgeridoo.

george - having finished recording their new album - depart the studio for an east coast tour in October and November with special guest Missy Higgins. Entitled Unity, the new album is scheduled for release in early 2004. The first single from the album will be Still Real and is due in stores Friday Nov 14. Further details »

Sunday, 12th

Big Day Out organisers have announced the first round of acts for next year's festival. Featured on the bill will be The Hoodoo Gurus, Something For Kate, Gerling, Jet, MC Trey, Downsyde, The Butterfly Effect, Magic Dirt plus internationals Metallica, The Strokes, The Dandy Warhols, Mars Volta, The Flaming Lips, Basement Jaxx, Aphex Twin, Black Eyed Peas, Peaches and The Datsuns. Spod has released his debut album, Taste The Radness, in stores out through Architecture and distributed via Shock. Coinciding with its release is some October dates in Melbourne, Newcastle, Brisbane and Canberra. November will see the official launch dates for the album. Further details »

Homebake organisers have announced the second round of acts for this year's festival and they are Beasts of Bourbon, Magic Dirt, Resin Dogs, Pete Murray, The Butterfly Effect, Maya Jupiter, Zephyr Timbre, The Morning After Girls, Screamfeeder and Peabody. Tuesday, 7th

Magic Lunchbox launch their new single, Doin’ Alright, on Friday October 10 at the Hopetoun Hotel. Support comes from Brisbane group the KT26er's and The Shellacs. The single is the first to be lifted from their upcoming album, Spastique, due out through Nonzero Records.

The Living End hit the road from October till December with an extensive national tour in support of their new album Modern Artillery. The album was recorded in February at Los Angeles with producer Mark Trombino (of Blink 182 and Jimmy Eat World renown). Special guests for the tour are The Casanovas and Gyroscope.
