Further play the Hopetoun Hotel over two nights on August Friday 15 and Saturday 16 as they present "Champagne For My Real Friends and Real Pain For My Sham Friends". Over the two nights the band will dust off material from their early EPs plus a few other rarities, in addition to showcasing contenders for the next album. Supports are The Sailors and The Specimens on Friday, Sea Life Park and newcomers Todd Sparrow (feat members of Big Heavy Stuff, Centipede) on Saturday. To mark this special one-off event, the band will release a 7" vinyl single limited to 200 copies and only available at shows.
Cryin Skies perform their first ever public show on Tuesday August 5 at Annandale Hotel. Front End Loader release their new EP Ape Got Store in stores August 25 on Redline Records. Lois hit the road for a short run of shows this weekend which will be the last with violinist Charlotte, who is heading to remote China to teach English for a year. The Blackeyed Susans undertake an extensive tour throughout the month of August to launch their sixth studio album Shangri-La. Produced by songwriter / bassplayer Phil Kakulas and the band with help from Killjoy and Audrey Studio boss Craig Pilkington, the album was recorded at Melbourne's Sing Sing Studios. Jodi Phillis releases her new album For Lovers, Artists And Dreamers in stores on August 4 on Candle Records. The bulk of the album was recorded by Tim Oxley in their home studio, along with tracks recorded in Canada by Don Kerr of Ron Sexsmith's band and at Greg Walker of Machine Translations south coast home. She will perform a rare show to launch the album in Sydney on Thursday September 11 at the Annandale Hotel, supported by Laura Imbruglia.
AgaugeFor's film clip for the track Black Ball, taken from their forthcoming album, has made the final of the The BrekFest Film & Music Festival. The clip, which was produced by Trish Ward and Wayne Reynolds at Halo Productions, will be screened at the one day event held on Sunday August 3 at the Valhalla Cinema in Glebe. Silo, a three piece from Sydney, are the latest signing to In-Fidelity Recordings. The trio features Sophie Hyde on vocals & bass, Wayan Norris on guitar and Martin Crouch on drums. The band is soon to commence recording but a release is not expected for this year.

A Song For You - A Tribute Night For Michael Lock is happening on Sunday July 13 at the Vic On The Park. Michael Lock, who died tragically in May at the age of 31, was a Perth born music journalist who wrote for NME, Perth's X-Press and the Melody Maker amongst others, and also worked at Sydney's Red Eye Records. STR have said goodbye to long time drummer Joel Bourne and bassist Jethro Robinson as Joel left to tour with Adelaide band Day Of Contempt, and Jethro's work commitments became too much. Alex Lloyd has completed recording his third album tentatively titled Distant Light.
