Friday, 13th

Warped before heading overseas are heading out on a quick run of Sydney and Melbourne dates this month. They play Fri June 13 @ Switch, Geelong; Sat June 14 @ The Tote, Melbourne w/ Riff Random, Spod, Dynamo; Fri June 20 Vic On The Park, Sydney w/ Further, Daughterboy Jao; Sat June 21 @ Narrabeen Sands, Sydney w/ Daughterboy Jao.

Carus will be hitting the road in June and July for an intimate run of solo shows around the nation. After these dates he will be taking in shows in France, Denmark, Germany and the UK where he will be supporting our own Mick Hart at London's 12 Bar. APRA has announced the winners for the 2003 APRA Music Awards. Song Of The Year as voted upon by APRA members went to 'Not Pretty Enough' by Kasey Chambers, she also won the awards of Most Performed Australian Work and Most Performed Country Work. The prestigious Songwriter of the Year award has gone to Daniel Johns for the second time. Craig Nicholls, songwriter / singer / guitarist from The Vines has been given the award of Breakthrough Songwriter. The Ted Albert Award For Outstanding Service To Australian Music has gone to legendary AC / DC brothers Angus and Malcolm Young and the late Bon Scott. Further details »

Heifer have completed recording their new six track EP entitled Black Skies Blue, which is scheduled for an August release. Their first show back since the recording will be Saturday June 14 @ Kelts Bar, Blaxland w/ Full Ride 20", Withdisdain, and Fingerprint Resistant.

Tucker Bs tour Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide in June with label mates Sea Life Park who are launching their new record. Their album Bish Bosh II : The Bosh Bosh is out now on Quietly Suburban Recordings. Further details »

Independence: Volume One is a new compilation from By Design Records featuring tracks from both established and upcoming bands. Appearing on the compilation is Skulker, Rhubarb, Epicure, Genevieve Maynard, Intercooler, Rollerball, Rumanastone, Bluebottle Kiss, Denvar, Montana, Digby, Tone Orange, Eyes Adrift, Special Blend, Frost and Cotton Sidewalk. The CD, to be released on Monday, July 7 through By Design Records and distributed nationally by MGM, also includes a 20-page information booklet with details of each act and their featured track.

The Rectifiers release their new album Wear The Weight Of The Resting Sky in July on Sensory Projects. It will be their first release in four years since their debut album of 1999.

The Accidents play Saturday June 14 @ The Spanish Club w/ Treetops, The Rumours and The Reservations. This will be the bands last show before hitting the studios to record a single off their forthcoming EP.

Dallas Crane hit the road in June and July for an east coast tour in support of their new single No Through Road. The single is a limited edition vinyl only release, and is the first taste of their forthcoming album. Joining them on the road will be Peabody Further details »

Disaster Plan have released their first ever vinyl release, a limited edition split single with Swedish band Alma on the Low Transit Industries Singles Club label. The vinyl 7" single is a taster of the forthcoming live album The Disaster Plan Self Help Seminar And Conference recorded earlier this year at the Rob Roy. The live album is due for release later in 2003, while in June the band heads into the recording studio in June to record a new studio album. The band will be touring in June to promote the single playing Sat June 14 @ Jade Monkey in Adelaide, Sat June 21 @ Spanish Club in Sydney and Sat June 28 @ Rob Roy in Melbourne.

Bodyjar before heading over to Japan will play an all ages show on Saturday June 14 @ Camberwell Civic Centre, 340 Camberwell Road with doors opening 6:30pm. Special guests are Mach Pelican and Tiltmeter. Tickets are $12+bf pre-sale and $15 at the door. The John Butler Trio due to overwhelming demand has announced extra shows on their Post Natal Expression Tour, which takes in major capital cities and regionals throughout July and August this year. 1200 Techniques embark on a national tour throughout late July and August in support of their new single Eye Of The Storm due in stores mid July. The single is taken from their forthcoming album Consistency Theory due for release in October this year through Sony Music. The album was produced by the groups own DJ Peril and mixed by New York based Troy Hightower. After this tour the band will be playing shows in UK and USA throughout August and September. Hardcore 2003 will be held on July 4 and 5 in Sydney. July 4 will be an all ages show at the Roundhouse in NSW University (Randwick). July 5 will be over 18s and held at the Gaelic Club. Performing at the event will be Day Of Contempt, Sommerset, Embodiment 12:14, The Stockholm Syndrome, Against, Betray The Day, Life Love Regret (farewell show), After The Fall and many more. The Singles Club Split 7" Collective, a new label created by Low Transit Industries, celebrates the release of the first two singles with three of launch parties in the month of June. The first single is a split between Disaster Plan and Alma, the second between The Essex Green and The Small Goods. Further details »

The Wells Collective, a collaborative project with Darren Smallman at the centre, have released their debut long player Along Sydon Drive. The 12 track album was produced & recorded by Darren Smallman & Rachael Lesley at Bakehouse in Richmond & The Red House Of Wives, Fitzroy.

Thursday, 5th

Full Fathom Five release their new album Sides in July through Valve Records in Australia and in the UK in August on Kennel Records. The album was recorded with Magoo in his Brisbane studio.

Something For Kate hit the road in July for a national tour to coincide with the release of their new single Deja Vu. The single is the first taken from their soon to be released fourth album. Joining them will be special guests Death Cab For Cutie from Seattle. Further details »

Jet, having completed their debut album with producer Dave Sardy, will hit the road in July for a national Australian tour. Joined by special guests The Mess Hall the tour begins in Perth before heading to Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and finishing up at the Splendour in the Grass festival in Byron Bay. Jebediah having parted ways with long time label Sony are currently in the studio to demo songs for their fourth album. In other news frontman Kevin Mitchell has been busy tracking a solo album using his now known pseudonym Bob Evans. The solo album is currently in the process of being mixed and is due for a mid year release out on the band's own label Redline Records.

Wednesday, 4th

Shutterspeed launch their new album Custom Made Hit Parade on Friday June 6 at The Zoo in Brisbane. For the launch the band have enlisted a three-piece horn section to recreate the recorded versions' brass lines. The band then launch the record in Sydney on Thursday June 12 at The Hopetoun and Newcastle on Friday June 13 at The Salarium. Early August will see the band launching the record in Melbourne.
