Tuesday, 30th

Big Day Out organisers have announced the first round of the acts for the 2009 event. Playing the festival will be The Living End, Sneaky Sound System, Pendulum, Cut Copy, Cog, Youth Group, The Grates, Birds Of Tokyo, TZU, Eddy Current Suppression Ring; plus internationals Neil Young, Arctic Monkeys, The Prodigy, My Morning Jacket, Bullet For My Valentine, Tv On The Radio, Simian Mobile Disco, The Ting Tings, and Tiki Taane. My Disco have announced the support bands for their Australian east coast tour this October. These dates will be the band's last shows of the year before touring Japan to promote the release of the album Paradise in special Japanese format. Further details »

Friday, 26th

Ned Collete is set perform farewell shows in Melbourne and Sydney in late September / early October before embarking on a twenty show tour across Europe and the UK. He will perform in Melbourne at the The Tote on Friday September 26 with St Helens, Teeth & Tongue and The Happily Ever After Land Band. The weekend after he plays the Hopetoun Hotel in Sydney on Saturday October 4 with Melbourne outfit Seagull and Touch Typist and Kaity Fox opening.

All Tomorrow's Parties Festival organisers have announced that the festival will be coming to Australia for the first time this January 2009. It will occur in three different locations: a two day event in Victoria with both on site and off site accommodation; a series of one night stands in Brisbane culminating in one large outdoor show; and a single day multi-band programme performing over two days in Sydney. Wednesday, 24th

Spod has finally released his long time coming second album Superfrendz on Valve, and will be touring during October and early November in support of its release. The album's title refers to the friends and supporters that made the album possible after organising a fund raiser to cover the expensive cost of data recovery after two hard disks of recordings failed. Pivot continue touring their second album O Soundtrack My Heart in Europe and UK during September through to early November. In October the band will release a limited edition, hand-numbered 7" single available in October featuring 'O Soundtrack My Heart' and a live cover of Talking Head's 'I Zimbra' as B side. Wednesday, 10th

Augie March release their new album Watch Me Disappear in stores October 11, accompanied by a national tour during October and November. The album's release will be preceded by the first single, Pennywhistle, available September 16 as a digital download, and in stores from September 27. Further details »
