Tuesday, 26th

Homebake has sold out all tickets for its 2008 event as of August 18.

Sekret Sekret, a Sydney band who emerged in late 1979 and broke up 5 years later, release their first ever CD release entitled Singles, Live, Rare on August 30 through Feel Presents. The 32 track release, of which 23 tracks have never been released before, includes the band's singles, b-sides, and various session recordings. Accompanying the 2 CD collection is a 28 page booklet.

Wednesday, 20th

The Meredith Music Festival returns for its eighteenth year this 2008 over the weekend of December 12 till 14 at the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre. The first round of acts to be announced are Grand Salvo, Muscles, Little Red, Yacht Club Djs, Architecture In Helsinki, Regurgitator, Combo La Revelacion; plus international guests Ten East, Holy Fuck, Mgmt, Saul Williams, Tame Impala, Man Man, Mountain Goats, Beaches, The Bronx, Final Fantasy, Black Diamond Heavies, The Ruby Suns, The Datsuns, and Adam Green.

Sam Shinazzi and his band launch their third album Then I Held My Breath on Thursday August 28 at the Hopetoun Hotel, Sydney. Support on the night comes from Go/No-Go and Boxquest.

Friday, 8th

This year's The Great Escape Festival, set to happen in October, has been canceled due to low ticket sales. Full refunds are available at the point of purchase.

Thursday, 7th

Sydney outfit Wolfmother has undergone a significant line up change with the departure of two original members, bass player Chris Ross and drummer Myles Heskett. Singer / guitarist Andrew Stockdale will continue the band with new members. The band's final show with the original line-up was their headlining slot at last Sunday's Splendour In The Grass Festival.

The Pyramid Rock Festival returns to Victoria's Phillip Island for its fifth year this New Year on Monday December 29 until Thursday January 1, 2009. The first round of acts will be announced Tuesday August 19 with tickets on Thursday September 4.

My Disco head out on the road this October before touring Japan to promote the Japanese release of their second album Paradise. After this tour, the band plan to spend the rest of the year writing new material for album number three, whilst preparing for an extensive tour of the world starting in New Zealand February 2009. Saturday, 2nd

The Great Escape has announced the next round of acts for this year's festival in October. Joining the bill is Tame Impala, Guy Blackman, Laura Imbruglia, Sophie Koh, I Heart Hiroshima, Mission Control, Teenagersintokyo, Dash & Will, Young & Restless, Violent Soho, Ned Colette Band, Temper Trap, Machine Translations, Cloud Control, Trial Kennedy, Emily Ulman, George Byrne; plus internationals Futureheads and Mount Eerie.
