The Casanovas launch their debut EP Keep It Hot on Friday October 4 @ Revolver Upstairs, Prahran. Formed in late 99, the three piece comprises of brothers Tommy and Patrick Boyce, on guitar/vocals and drums respectively with Jimmy Lewis on bass. The EP is out now on Rubber Records.
The board of ARIA (Australian Record Industry Association) has announced the final five nominees for the 16th Annual ARIA Music Awards to be held on Tuesday October 15. On top of these nominations the board has also announced the artisan award winners in the categories of production, engineering, cover artwork and video of the year. This year’s awards will be held at the Sydney Superdome for the first time, and will feature live performances Grinspoon, George, Taxiride, Kasey Chambers, Selwyn, Disco Montego, John Butler, Shakaya and Motor Ace plus overseas guests. Tylea releases her EP Tylea and The Imaginary Music Score on October 7 through Reverie Records with national distribution by MGM. While the six track EP has been available for some months up til now it was only available at her live shows and selected independent record stores. The New Christs release their new album We Got This! on September 30 on Laughing Outlaw. After the band's US label Man's Ruin, who were originally going to release the album, went bankrupt producer Wayne Connolly over saw the completion of the record at Sydney's Milk Bar Studios during late April and early May 2002. Aside from the standard CD format the record will also be put out as a double vinyl release and will be available a week later in the UK and Europe, whilst a US licensing deal is in the final stages of negotiation.
Lazaro's Dog release their second EP What Happens In The Space Shuttle Stays In The Space Shuttle on November 4 following their recent signing to Origin Recordings and BMG. The band launch the five track EP in their hometown of Adelaide with an all shows on Saturday November 2 @ Adelaide Unibar. In the meantime the band have a run of dates in Melbourne next weekend. Disaster Plan release their new album Self Help Guide October 7 on the Sensory Projects label. The twelve track concept album is the band's fifth album to date. In support of the record the band plan to make it to Sydney and Adelaide before the end of the year. The Meredith Music Festival now entering its twelfth year has announced the first batch of artists for this years festival are Sleater Kinney, Resin Dogs (in big band mode), D4, Jon Spencer's Blues Explosion, Bob Mould, Jebediah, Combo La Revelacion and 20 Miles. Further release the EP Our Own Worst Enemy October 2 on Comrade / Architecture. The five track EP features a radio edit of 'Yesterday's Enemy', 'Sonic Protest' an unreleased song taken from the album recording sessions, two unreleased demo recordings from early last year and a live track. The soundtrack for Garage Days, the new film from director Alex Proyas (The Crow, Dark City), is due for release September 30. The 19 track album features a selection of new tracks by the film's composers David McCormack and Andrew Lancaster, as well as several existing tracks by overseas and local artists. Sodastream, before heading into the studio to record their third album, will venture up to Sydney to perform Thursday September 26 @ Hopetoun, Surry Hills. This will be the band’s first Sydney show in over a year owing to busy touring schedule overseas. George release the DVD Polyserena: In Full Bloom on October 15. Running for 155 minutes the DVD will contains rare footage, including film shot at this year's collaboration with The Queensland Orchestra, as well as all the band's video clips and scenes from the making of the album.

Warped have signed a deal with the Japanese label Latrum Corp and this will see the band embark on their first tour of Japan in early November. Joining them on the tour and now a part of the permanent lineup is second guitarist Todd Trevor. Lastly the band has a new album in the works with the single Mile High slated for release in early November.
Ninetynine release The Process their new long player on September 16 on Trifekta. The fourteen track album was recorded at Birdland and mixed by Lindsay Gravina, marking their first excursion into a 24 track studio. Transport launch their new EP Mid Ocean Drift for a second time on Friday September 6 @ 9th Ward with special guests. The band originally launched the record back in May but its mid June release was pushed back and it is now due for release late September. The EP was recorded at Indent Studios and also at Asphalt production studio over a couple of weeks in March.
The Stalkers have finished recording their debut EP simply titled Rock ‘n’ Roll and it is due for release October 7 on Valve Records. The Hard-Ons after a lengthy absence from the Australian live scene will return for two shows with The Persian Rugs on Friday Sept 6 @ Annandale and Saturday Sept 7 @ Manly Fisho’s. These shows will be their first with new drummer Peter Kostic (Regurgitator, Front End Loader, The Stalkers) filling the drum stool left vacant late last year by original drummer & vocalist Keish de Silva. Clan Analogue a collective of electronic artists throughout Australia launch their new compilation Habitat: Environmental Sound Research on Sunday September 8 @ Frigid, Hopetoun Hotel. The event will feature performances by Prettyboy Crossover, Kazumichi Grime and the 5000 Fingers of Dr T all of which appear on the compilation. Chapter Music beginning as a cassette label in Perth in 1992 will celebrates its 10th birthday this month with the launch of a compilation entitled Double Figures on Friday September 6 @ Rob Roy Hotel. The compilation contains highlights from the label's back catalogue as well as new and unreleased tracks from the current roster. Performing on the night will be Wagons, Minimum Chips, Jeremy Dower, Mia Schoen, Julian Williams and DJ Chrissy G. The night doubles as the launch for the vinyl version of Jeremy Dower's Music For Retirement Villages, Circa 2050 EP. This will also be the last Chapter gig before label boss Guy Blackman heads off to live in Japan for a year or so, which also means its Minimum Chips' last gig with Guy on bass.

Halfday head out on the road this month for a run of NSW/ACT shows in support of their recent debut EP Downstairs King. The band was formed in 2001 by former Pretty Violet Stain guitarist Nathan Lockwood (vocals/guitar) with ex-Spacejunk (Brisbane JJJ Unearthed runners-up) members Ryan Argent on drums and Owen Jolly on guitar. Irwin Thomas release the single Better Than You’ll Ever Known in stores on September 2. The single is taken from their debut album The Evolution Of Irwin Thomas due for release on September 30. In support of the single the band will be performing a quick run of dates along the east coast during the month of September. Then in October they play Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne as part of the M-One festival.
Brer Mouse release their debut mini-album Beatlemania on September 16 out through the Nice Noise label. Hummel release their new EP Rhythm Riots on September 16 out through MGM distribution. The Adelaide four piece launch the EP in their hometown on Friday October 25 @ Music House, with tours to Melbourne and Sydney to happen in October/November. The six track EP was produced by Wayne Connolly.
Fez Perez have undergone a line up change with the addition of Travis Demsey (ex-Living End) on drums. Livid has announced the second round of bands for this year’s festival and they are locals John Butler Trio, Superheist, Dan Brodie & The Broken Arrows, One Dollar Short and Giants Of Science. Joining them is internationals Morrissey who will headline the festival plus Mercury Rev, The International Noise Conspiracy, Dropkick Murphy’s, Strung Out, The D4 and Seafood.
