Rob Snarksi and Dan Luscombe, the singer and guitarist of the Blackeyed Susans, have taken a leave momentarily from the aforementioned band to record an album together entitled There is Nothing Here that Belongs to You. Recorded in the home studio of David Bridie and mixed and engineered by Adam Rhodes in the autumn of 2002, the album is now being released on Sydney label Quietly Suburban Recordings in conjunction with Shock Records on Monday October 21. Assisting with the proceedings was The Dumb Earth’s David Creese on drums, Angelica Papadopoulos on backing vocals, and Robin Casinader looking after the string arrangements. They launch the album on Wednesday 30 @ The Night Cat, Fitzroy w/ The Dumb Earth Duo and in Sydney on Thursday October 31 @ The Annandale Hotel w/ The Dumb Earth duo and Tim Oxley.
The Gels will be releasing a new single Somebody Someday through Rising Star Music, which will be in stores late October. In the meantime the Adelaide rock outfit hit Melbourne again playing Friday October 18 @ The Duke of Windsor Hotel, Prahran supporting Benzene and Ballarat's The Turnarounds.
Hamish release their debut album Homesick instores October 14 and this will be supported by a national tour commencing October 14 and winding up early November. The ten track album will be available in two formats: a standard version and a limited edition version including lush packaging and a bonus remix disc featuring mixes by Offcuts, Mark James & Bryan St James. Little Smoke have been announced as winners of the ACT finals of the Jim Beam National Campus Band Competition, which were held on Friday September 13. Little Smoke will play the national finals on Thursday October 24 @ Corner Hotel. Little Smoke is the band previously known as Space Is Dead with a new line-up and name.
Ikey Mo launch their EP Beginner Guide to Self Defence on Friday October 11 @ Amplifier Bar, Perth with Cartman, Autopilot, Adora. The EP was recorded at Studio Couch by Sean O’ Callaghan (Halogen, Eskimo Joe, John Butler Trio) and is the band’s debut effort.
Flee The Capital will be appearing on 'Grow Your Own v7', a compilation put out by Foghorn Records and Damien Gerard Studios. Their new single 'Knocking Your Knuckles Raw' will appear as the second track on the compilation, set for release on Tuesday October 8. Following the release of the compilation the band will be turning their attention back to the recording a long awaited EP, planned for release in early 2003. In the meantime catch the band play Saturday October 5 @ The Annandale Hotel and Friday October 11 @ Bar Broadway.

Sandro release their new EP Christmas instores October 6 on Unstable Ape Records, via MGM Distribution. The band launch the record on Saturday November 2 @ Rob Roy Hotel, Fitzroy with special guests The Friendly Injun and At Sea.
The Lucksmiths release the single Midweek Midmorning instores November 4 on Candle Records. The single is taken from their forthcoming album due for release March of next year, and is accompanied by two non-album tracks 'Point Being' & 'Requiem For The Punters Club'. Speedstar release the single This Everyday Life instore on Monday October 21. The single, which is taken from their album Bruises 'You Can Touch', also features an exclusive radio edit of 'Song For You', two new tracks and a cover of the You Am I song 'Berlin Chair'. In support of the single the band will head out on their first headline tour with supports The Devoted Few, which kicks off October 17 and takes in shows along the east coast before wrapping up in early November. Breathing Autumn have just released their debut EP Without Latitude through Toupee Records. They will be launching the EP on the Friday November 8 @ The Healer, Brisbane with supports Bloon and Caleb James. The band hope to travel south of the border in the New Year.
Paul Dempsey of Something For Kate will be touring the US in solo mode from the last week of October through to mid-November. The tour will be in support of the American release of Echolalia, which is due in stores October 8. In other news Paul has been producing and playing on the new collaborative album for Tom Morgan and Evan Dando, due for release in the coming months on the new label High Fidelity Recordings.
