Saturday, 29th

Candle Records celebrate Christmas on Wednesday December 17 at The Rob Roy, Melbourne. The line-up for the night will be The Guild League, Anthony Atkinson and Ruck Rover. Tickets are $10 and will be only available on the night at the door from 8:30pm. DJ Andy McCelland will be spinning tracks between and after the bands.

The Night Terrors launch their new mini-album, Lightless, in Sydney and Brisbane this December. ECM play a showcase gig, proudly presented by Massive Management and ECM Presents, on Saturday December 6 at the Surry Hills Excelsior with Bordello - launching their new album - and Kizmet. The band then head up north to take part in the Festival Of The Sun at Port Macquarie on Sunday December 14 before making their way back to Sydney to join Cog and Three Point Tilt at Harbord Diggers on Christmas Eve.

I Killed The Prom Queen launch their debut full length album, When Goodbye Means Forever, with an all ages on Saturday December 13 at the Enigma Bar, Adelaide. Support will come from Day Of Contempt, Stockholm Syndrome and Threshold. This will be followed by a national tour to support the release. The album is released on Resist Records and distributed by MGM.

Wednesday, 19th

Splinta have been busy of late putting together the new EP titled Parasite. The band also have a new line-up with the addition of bass player Elliot. See them live on Wednesday November 26 at Revolver, Chapel st, Prahran with Tension, Mase Repellent and Plow.

The Follow head into the studio in late November to track their debut album which will be mixed by legendary Sonic Youth guitarist, Lee Ranaldo, at Sonic Youth Studios in New Jersey. In January the band will embark on their first national tour taking in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne. The band's debut EP, Love Is A Cult, is out now.

GB3 - otherwise known as Glenn Bennie of the Underground Lovers - launches the release of his debut solo record, Circlework, on Friday November 28 at The Evelyn. Glenn will be joined by special guests including Philippa Nihill (ex-Underground Lovers) and supported by The Morning After Girls.

Deloris launch their new EP, Playing The Spaces, on Friday November 21 at The Rob Roy with International Karate and Ollie Browne (Art of Fighting). The EP is a taster of the band's upcoming third full length album, Fake Our Deaths, recorded at Sing Sing Studios with Matt Voigt (Cat Power, Dirty 3) and Adam Donovan (Augie March). The EP - featuring the radio single, 'The Unbroke Part Of It, and handmade packing - will be available for the first time on the night.

Regurgitator are back on local shores having spent the past months galavanting around the globe performing in the UK, Europe and Hong Kong. December will see spots on the Woodford Folk and The Falls festivals, followed by shows in Adelaide and Sydney in early January. The band's live DVD, entitled Nein, Nein Nein... FBi Live is a series of gigs in November and December to help fledging Sydney radio station, FBi 94.5FM, raise funds to build their second studio. The first gig kicks off this weekend on Saturday 22 and Sunday November 22, 2pm and 4pm respectively, at the The Bat & Ball Hotel. El Mopa, Women Of Troy, Tides, Midnight Swim, When Yr Dead Yr Dead Forever and Project Lo-Fi perform Saturday; Sunday sees The Lowdorados, Transporter, Fyreflys, Ezmerelda and Kat Frankie. Seascapes Of The Interior will be performing music for a dance entitled 'Remember When' at Dancehouse (150 Princes Street, North Carlton) from Thursday 4 until Sunday December 7. Music from their CD, All Safe, All Well, will be used on the night in addition to an interpretation of a Henryk Gorecki symphony arranged especially for the dance. Smallgoods launch their debut album, Listen To The Radio, this month performing: Thursday Nov 20 @ Corner Hotel, Melbourne; Thurday 27th Nov @ Jade Monkey, Adelaide; Saturday Nov 29 @ Hopetoun, Sydney. The album is in stores through Half A Cow Records and MGM distribution.

Ruteger have finished the recording and mixing of their new album. The band has been recording the album on and off since June 2002 with Cameron McKenzie at Station Place & Hothouse Studios. The eleven track album is slated for a release in March 2004.

Ladyfest Melbourne - marking the first time the event comes to Australia - happens from Thursday 20 till Sunday November 23 at venues across Melbourne. Wednesday, 12th

Fatherhood - a new compilation featuring the likes of Paul Kelly, John Butler, Tex Perkins, Neil Murray, Archie Roach and many more - is released in stores November 17 on the Rawmix label and distributed by MGM. As the title suggests the release is a concept album centered around the theme of fatherfood, with all profits going to The Uncle Project and Pathways to Manhood charities. Tuesday, 11th

The Presets - side project for Kim Moyes and Julian Hamilton of Prop - release their debut EP, entitled Blow Up, November 17 on the Modular label. The duo will launch the record on Friday November 21 at The Bang Gang (Moulin Rouge, 39 Darlinghurst Rd, Kings Cross) with Ajax and Dangerous Dan.

Youth Group hit the road this month for an east coast tour to launch their new single, Shadowland, out now through Ivy League Records. The single is the first taste of their forthcoming album due out early 2004. Further details »

Switchkicker plays a rare show - only his second for the year and with a new lineup - on Friday November 14 at the Annandale Hotel supporting Primary. In other news, he has been working on a batch of new songs while finishing off a new mix to the next single With Red Hands, lifted from the debut album 17102.

Green Rock returns for number three, this time a festival over four nights at the Annandale from November Thursday 20 till Sunday 23. Hosted by The Greens, the event will raise funds for the NSW Rape Crisis Centre, particularly to establish an on-line real time counseling service. Freedom Festival 2003 organisers have finalised the line up and venues for the festival happening Thursday 27 to Sunday 30 of November at venues across Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra. Sunday, 9th

Homebake organisers have announced the final batch of artists for this year's festival. The Cat Empire, Little Birdy, Spod, Offcutts, Dallas Crane, Blindspott, Best Kept Secret, Second Dan, Riff Random plus DJs Bexta, Ben Korbel and Alex Taylor all join the line up bringing the total number of acts to over 40. Iron On hit the road in November and December for a tour taking in QLD, NSW and VIC. In other news, the band start production on their next EP in January with Bryce Moorhead at Zero Interference Studios.

Friday, 7th

Warped are currently on the road as part of a national tour in support of their new album, Quicker Ways To Blacker Eyes. The twelve track album - out now on Casadeldisco and distributed by Shock - was produced by Shane O'Mara (Paul Kelly, Stephen Cummings, Rebecca Barnard), Matt Voigt (Cat Power, Kiss, Dirty 3, Living End) and Brett O'Riley of Warped. Wednesday, 5th

The Forresters launch their debut album, Skindeep, on Friday November 14 at the Excelsior Hotel in Surry Hills. Joining Anthony on stage will be Nick Kennedy on drums, Steve Balbi on bass, Sean Windsor on violin and Matt Galvin on guitar. Fellow Sydney-siders Starboard will be supporting. In other news the album has been released in the UK, where it has been enjoying significant radio support and reviews.

Lazy Susan launch their new single, Sometimes, on Saturday November 8 at the Hopetoun with supports I Love Space and The Camels. The single is the first to be lifted from their yet to be titled new album - recorded with producer Phil McKellar (Cruel Sea, Silverchair, Grinspoon) - set for release in early 2004.

Sonic Animation have completed recording of their new as yet untitled album. Freaky Highway, due for release November 10 thru MGM Distribution, is the first single to be lifted from the forthcoming album.

The Church kick off a national tour in late November to support the release of their new album, Forget Yourself, out now thru Cooking Vinyl / Shock Records. The tour includes their debut appearance at Homebake and Tasmania's Gone South Festival. Further details »

Ground Components launch their debut self-titled EP on Thursday November 13 at Corner Hotel with special guests the Bird Blobs and Chantdown Sound System. This will be followed by launches along the east coast: Wednesday Nov 19 @ Bar Broadway, Sydney; Saturday Nov 22 @ @ Ric's, Brisbane; Thursday Nov 27 @ Jade Monkey, Adelaide. The six track release was recorded to tape at Sing Sing studios with producer Casey Rice (Liz Phair, Tortoise, Via Tania etc).

Backy Skank launch their new album, Suited and Booted on Saturday November 15 at the Empire hotel, Annanandale. Supports include Rastawookie, Lyrical Madmen, The Hollywood Hombres and Jamalia plus guest DJs and MC Bossbeat.

Radio Birdman, following successful completion of their first ever European tour, will play one Sydney show only on Thursday December 11 at the Gaelic Club, Surry Hills. Aside from their headline spot on the Meredith Music Festival this will be their only show Australian show for this year. The support act will be Modey Lemon from the US and tickets are on sale now.

Meredith Music Festival organisers have announced another round of artists for this year's festival with the addition of The Shins, The Morning After Girls, Curse Ov Dialect, Ground Components, Augie March and Architecture In Helsinki. Dave McCormack has released Save Dave, a DVD containing 20 minute documentary as well as an 8 song concert recorded live at the Hopetoun Hotel last June. The documentary follows the band from afternoon soundcheck through to the gig and then onto the after show activities. As an added bonus, the DVD includes all the Dave McCormack solo videos including 'The Inner West (Has All The Beautiful Girls)' and 'The Faith Healer'.

Australia's musicMAX - a cable channel available on Foxtel, Austar and Optus TV - air their new six part series of live music performances, musicMAX Sessions, on November 8 at 7:30pm. The program, hosted by Paul Hester, will present top shelf international and Australian artists performing live before a small audience in a unique setting. Alive Festivals - two free all ages concerts funded by the NSW Motor Accidents Authority (MAA) as apart of their Arrive Alive campaign - happen this November on Saturday Nov 8 at Wollongong Showgrounds and Saturday Nov 15 at Gosford Leagues Club. These two drug and alcohol free events run from 1 til 5pm, and will be headlined by 28 Days in addition to performances by After The Fall, Countersunk and Many Machines on Nine.
